Terms of Service

Effective date: 1 June 2026

Welcome to Tokans ("we", "our", "us"). By accessing or using tokans.org and any associated services (collectively, the "Platform"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service. If you do not agree, do not use the Platform.

1. Eligibility

You must be at least 16 years old to create an account. By registering, you confirm that all information you provide is accurate and that you have the legal capacity to enter into this agreement.

2. Your Account

You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account credentials and for all activity that occurs under your account. Notify us immediately at hello@tokans.org if you suspect unauthorised use.

3. Acceptable Use

You agree not to:

• Provide false, misleading, or fabricated information about your professional background or contributions.
• Game, manipulate, or artificially inflate your Tokan score or peer-review signals.
• Scrape, copy, or redistribute Platform data without written permission.
• Use the Platform for spam, harassment, or any unlawful purpose.
• Attempt to reverse-engineer or disrupt the Platform's security mechanisms.

We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these rules at our sole discretion.

4. Tokans — Not Currency

Tokans are reputation signals tied to verified professional contributions. They are not transferable, have no monetary value, cannot be purchased, and do not constitute a financial instrument of any kind. Attempting to buy, sell, or transfer Tokans is a violation of these Terms.

5. Intellectual Property

The Tokans name, logo, design, and all Platform content are owned by Tokans.org or its licensors. You retain ownership of any content you submit (profile information, contributions, briefs) and grant us a non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to display it on the Platform for the purpose of providing the service.

6. Third-Party Services

The Platform integrates with GitHub, Google, and other third-party identity or payment providers. Your use of those services is governed by their own terms. We are not responsible for their practices.

7. Disclaimers

The Platform is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind, express or implied. We do not guarantee that any match, opportunity, or professional connection made through the Platform will result in employment or a commercial engagement.

8. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Tokans.org and its team shall not be liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising out of your use of the Platform, even if advised of the possibility of such damages.

9. Termination

You may close your account at any time by contacting hello@tokans.org. We may terminate or suspend access for any breach of these Terms. Upon termination, your right to use the Platform ceases immediately.

10. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. Material changes will be communicated via email or a prominent notice on the Platform. Continued use after the effective date of revised Terms constitutes acceptance.

11. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of India. Disputes shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of Bangalore, Karnataka.
